My favourite story from the day is that of George Boag’s performance, who caught a superb 12 lb rainbow from up at the dam wall. This was by far the biggest fish of the day. No photograph mind you , but 100% verified by his pal Mick who is rumoured to be a close relative, or at least in the same gang as George ? When it came to the prizes, for a laugh I handed George a stuffed yellow trout which was in fact supposed to be the booby prize ! Our John, who as Master of the Prize Giving saw George receiving a prize, assumed that all was in order and that George had been awarded the correct prize that his superb catch merited.
The rest of the prizes were duly awarded until there were none left. Not even a Curly Whurly remained.
Once the mistake had been realised, it was too late, and poor George, when this injustice was made known, found himself faced with an angry crowd of truculent guests, laden with a variety of fabulous prizes, who made it clear that they point blank were refusing to return their swag. However order was restored when everyone started laughing at George and he was quietly told to “hop it” before things got nasty ! ( that should teach him not to catch big fish when I’m about !).
A photo of George can be seen in our slide show and on a happier note, I am told George has since become very attached to his stuffed fish and sleeps with it beside his pillow.
So all that remains is to again thank our sponsors Wilo Pumps, thank the staff at Loganlea for a great day out and thank our loyal customers and guests for all your continued support over the past thirty six years.
Same time next year anyone ?
