The prestigious award was presented at a gala event in Dublin on 22nd November 2012.

EPS won in one of the most competitive categories, Energy Efficiency Award – Major Users. The award is in recognition of the EPS Group’s innovative plant optimisation and energy reducing initiatives, which have been implemented at Dundalk and Drogheda and various other wastewater treatment facilities nationwide which, together, are ensuring EPS continues to lower its carbon footprint and reduce its energy consumption. These energy reducing initiatives are ongoing and in partnership with our supply chain partners and local authority customers.

Speaking at the awards ceremony the judges said;

"EPS has gained ISO 50001 accreditation and used a simple but effective approach to energy management at the modern local authority owned sewage treatment works at Drogheda and Dundalk, which it manages. Since 2008, they have achieved a combined 35% reduction in energy imports over the past number of years."

"This endorsement is further recognition of our ongoing efforts to develop cleaner technologies and solutions which reduce energy consumption and increase efficiency. Our vision is to be come the most sustainable company in the industry providing energy efficient and innovative cost saving water solutions globally."

EPS also made the shortlist for the Oustanding Leadership in Energy Management award category but narrowly lost out to The Tyndall National Institute, University College Cork and Stewarts Care Ltd in partnership with Dalkia Ltd.

Declan O’Riordan, Energy Manager at EPS, acknowledged the hard work and dedication of the entire EPS team in our energy focussed achievements and highlighted the excellent support and guidance received by the SEAI and various other organisations.
